This has been the most difficult page to make of all the pages on this site. Selling myself is not a strongpoint of mine, but honesty is, so I'll just go with that.
Why Outpatient Imaging Consulting? Who or what is Outpatient?
Hello. I'm Outpatient, Don Cowger. I have been using the online "handle" Outpatient for over 12 years now. It has become my name and as far as I'm concerned is just as valid as my given name.
But why use your silly "handle" and not your real name for your business? Do you think that is wise?
I have had a few people tell me using "Outpatient" in my business name is not such a great idea. But the way I see it is I'm not a corporate CEO in a three-piece here, I'm an artist. And aren't we artists supposed to be a little off kilter? 8^) Plus to be totally honest, a big reason for me deciding to use my online nickname is because I wanted the acronym O.I.C. and using my chosen name of "Outpatient" seemed to be the most apropos way of achieving that acronym.
Ok Don, er, Outpatient, tell me why you and the staff of OIC are qualified to service my imaging needs.
First and foremost let me tell you upfront, OIC is only me. Unlike so many other businesses on the web I'm not going to attempt to jive you into thinking I'm a big corporation by using words like "we", "us", or "our staff". Like I said honesty is a strongpoint so I'm going to go with what I know here. Currently and for the foreseeable future OIC is a one-man-show.
And you admitting to me you are a one-man-show is a good thing? Explain.
Yes it is a good thing. Here's why; each client of mine gets my personal, undivided attention. When you consult with OIC you are consulting with the head of the design department. When you need customer service from OIC you get it directly from the president of the company. You will never be passed off to another department and you will never hear "that's not in my job description". OIC's reputation is my reputation so you can be assured when dealing with OIC I will happily go above and beyond the call of duty to insure you are satisfied with the product or service you require.
Alright, but you still haven't answered what makes you qualified in this field.
What qualifications are there for being an artist? I'm not aware of any. All I can do is tell you the experience I have and show you some work from my portfolio. From that you can decide if you think I'm competent and skilled in this endeavor.
Previous imaging work:
First, right here at the OIC web site be sure to see my past works of logos, photo editing, and other projects as well as the articles I've written pertaining to imaging.
Also I have a tutorial that has been published online at Worth1000.com, the premier photo manipulation site on the web: Vector Designs / Customizing Text in Photoshop
While visiting Worth1000.com you may want to take a look at my history of submitted images. You can also find a similar, but not quite identical gallery of my work at TechIMO's PhotoPost image gallery.
Lastly you will find a small collection of my work at the graphics page from my personal web site. Free free to peruse those links and judge my imaging skills as you see fit.
Experience:
A dozen years using Adobe Photoshop and about a third that many using Illustrator. These are the two most used tools in the arsenal. For-the-most-part if it cannot be done using Photoshop or Illustrator, then it cannot be done.
Also experienced with 3D modeling and scene rendering. The Persistence of Vision Raytracer is my 3D program of choice, but I've worked in 3D-Studio (3DS Max) as well. I have had artwork chosen to be included on "Raytrace! The Official POV-Ray CDROM".
